Winter Lamp

They're having another fun challenge over at the SVG Cuts Facebook, the theme being to use the basic lamp from SVG Cuts' Maison de Madeline SVG Kit, as well as other files from SVG Cuts. We were not to alter the lamp from its original shape.

This is my lamp. I chose a winter/Christmas theme.

Here are some of the steps I took to make it!
I cut out a window on all four sides of the base of the lamp. I edged them with a small border that I cut with white card stock from the French Quarter Ironwork SVG Collection. I then powder embossed the borders, as well as the fleur stamp, in gold. This was easiest done prior assembling the lamp.
I put acetate in the windows. I actually cut two of each of the sides and layered the acetate between the two.

Next, I took the sides of the lampshade, and used a glue pen to go around all of the edges. I sprinkled with fine gold glitter, and backed with vellum. This pretty snowflake came from the Winter's Chill SVG Kit.
I then made the spindle ornament from SVG Cuts' Christmas Ornaments SVG Kit. I decreased the size quite a bit, I think to about 3".
As you can see, the overlays on the pointed portion of the spindle were placed on prior to putting it all together. Mary, from SVG Cuts, make wonderful tutorials to show you how to make all of her projects, so you don't have to guess how to put them together. They are all on youtube.com if you're interested. The overlays were cut with a gold shimmer card stock. And, I put some clear glitter glue between the sides of the overlays and some tiny gold pearl embellishments on the ornament..
I placed a little piece of card stock inside the base above the windows, with two small holes at the center, and used fishing line to attach the spindle ornament to hang inside the windows just prior to gluing the final side of the base together.
The bottom edge of the lampshade has a border from Twilight Fairies SVG Collection, and again I used the glue pen and glittered the bottom edge of the border.
I made an opening in the back of the base where I could insert a battery-operated tea light. The pattern had an opening for a tea light in the lampshade. So, when they are on the lamp is illuminated and looks so pretty.
And, that's my lamp. Hope you enjoyed my little journey.
